Your First Step Into Organized Crypto Tracking

Ready to stop guessing about your crypto performance? This lesson walks you through adding your first crypto purchase to FolioFlux. By the end, you'll see exactly how much your investments are worth and whether you're making money.

Before you start: Grab a recent crypto purchase receipt or transaction from your exchange (Coinbase, Binance, etc.). You'll need the date, amount, and price you paid.

Connect Your Wallet

Click 'Sign In with Wallet' on the FolioFlux homepage
Choose your wallet (MetaMask is most common)
Follow the prompts to connect safely
You're now logged in - your wallet is your password!

Pro Tip: Don't have a wallet yet? MetaMask is free and takes 5 minutes to set up. It's like creating an email account, but for crypto.

Go to Your Portfolio

Navigate to where you'll add your crypto holdings

Look for 'Portfolio' in the main navigation
Click it to open your portfolio dashboard
You'll see an empty dashboard - that's normal for new users!
Look for an 'Add Transaction' or '+' button

Pro Tip: Bookmark this page! You'll visit your portfolio dashboard often to check your investments.

Add Your First Transaction

Tell FolioFlux about a crypto purchase you made

Click 'Add Transaction' or the '+' button
A form will open asking for transaction details
Choose 'Buy' as the transaction type
Fill in the details of your crypto purchase

Pro Tip: Start with your biggest or most recent purchase first. You can always add older transactions later.

Fill in the Transaction Details

Enter the specifics of your crypto purchase

Select the cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.)
Enter the amount you bought (like 0.5 Bitcoin)
Enter the price you paid per coin
Pick the date you made the purchase
Click 'Save' or 'Add Transaction'

Pro Tip: Don't worry about being exact to the penny. Close estimates work fine, and you can always edit later.

Common Questions & Answers

"What if I don't remember the exact price I paid?"

No problem! Check your exchange history, email receipts, or bank statements. If you still can't find it, use a price from that date on CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap - close estimates work fine.

"I bought crypto on multiple days. Do I add each purchase separately?"

Yes! Add each purchase as a separate transaction. This gives you accurate cost averaging and better profit/loss calculations. Start with your most recent purchase and work backwards.

"What if I transferred crypto between wallets?"

Transfers between your own wallets don't change your holdings - just add the original purchase transaction. Only add transactions when you actually buy or sell crypto for money.

"Can I edit or delete transactions later?"

Absolutely! Click on any transaction in your portfolio to edit the details. Made a mistake? No worries - everything can be corrected.
